Todd S.

I was introduced to spartan saunas through a friend and they blew my mind. I never considered being able to have a portable sauna but it was so cool. We took it down to a lake and did sauna then lake plunge for hours. Super impressive heat, and it also works just as well when set up in the backyard. Highly recommend.

We set our spartan sauna up on the side of a lake in central Otago. It was so easy, handled the wind fine. Was great fun. Solid unit and priced well. Highly recommend.

How to set-up

The Sauna

Pop out each side by the pull-tab, push pegs in through designated grounding holes and open air flow vent. Position the bench seat where you want it - make sure there is leg space between the stove.

The Stove

Carry the stove in, fold out the legs on flat even ground and mount the chimney - then all you have to do is light a fire for the first burn off - see 'First Fire' below.

First Fire

First Fire

Before your first sauna session, your Spartan Haus sauna requires a one-time burn-in. This is normal for high-quality wood-fired saunas and is similar to seasoning a cast iron pan.

How to Do It

  • Set the stove and sauna stones in place
  • Open the door fully
  • Build a strong fire and get the stove cranking hot
  • Pour water on the rocks every 5 minutes
  • Continue until any smoke or smell disappears (approximately 20 minutes)

This process removes manufacturing residues and heat-sets the stones.

Once complete, your sauna stove is fully seasoned and ready to use.

This only needs to be done once.

Warranty

We offer a 1-year warranty on all of our products.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Spartan sauna get as hot as a traditional sauna?

Absolutely, the Spartan Sauna can reach temperatures over 90°C degrees!

How long does it take to set up?

Pull out the four sides, secure with pegs, set up the stove and chimney, and light the fire — ready to enjoy in about 10 - 15 minutes

Building permit required?

No, it does not require a building permit as it is a movable structure

What material is the sauna made out of?

The Spartan Saunas are made from 300D Oxford fabric — a tightly woven, heat-rated, non-off-gassing material commonly used in outdoor gear and medical-grade shelters. The fabric has a high melting point (around 250–260°C), which is far above any temperature the sauna will reach (95-100°C).

This means the fabric remains stable, does not melt, and does not release microplastics or fumes at sauna temperatures. We only operate the tents at a small fraction of the material’s heat tolerance, keeping the sauna environment safe and clean.

Advantages of a Spartan Sauna?
  • Extremely portable
  • Reaches the same or higher temperatures as traditional saunas
  • Rapid heat up time (10-15min)
  • No building permits required
  • 1 year warranty
